about

‘Missed Shots’ is a song co-written with the syrian-palestinian poet Karam Alhindi, who shares his story and the one of other refugees. The poem is a reference to Mahmoud Darwish’s work, it tackles themes like endless uprooting and systemic dehumanization felt by refugees. It’s a cry for revolution, an attempt to break the walls.

lyrics

Away now
Where they won’t mind
Your wake
Stuck in your own wake
Go figure out where the road leads now
You’re a lost crowd
You’re a camp that’s growing on
It’s moving alone now, give in
And hear us call out
Hear us fall
Missed shots cascade
They locked it down,
It’s only wall that are speaking
Oh they are speaking
Pack all of your heavy stones
You’re out
Slip away, now
Our faith is calling
Hold that door
It is time that we board
Step away guard, I say
We’re coming along
We’re coming along
